Season Two Kickoff Party
Okay it was more of a race than a party, but this was a lot of fun. So much fun that I will be asking our live audience and Farm Town neighbors to join us again on my farm to do it again immediately following our next show on Monday.
Before the show I had turned half of my farm into an obstacle course. The next step was to invite all the live participants in the chat room to visit my farm right after the show. The rest was Farm Town mayhem from start to finish. Here are some photos taken during the race.
Everyone grouped together at the starting gates located on the upper right side of my farm. “Ready”, “Set”, “Go!” and we all shot through the 3 openings to the obstacle course.
The first section I call, “Barrel of Fun.” In this section the racers bounce through barrels and a few pine trees while making their way to the next section I call the “Haunted Pumpkin Patch.”
As you can see in this photo, something must have spooked my Farm Town neighbors because they were running through the Haunted Pumpkin Patch like they had ghosts chasing them. You can see a larger view of any of the pictures on this page by just clicking on the photo. You will need to hit your browsers “Back” button to return to this post after viewing.
To shake off the frightful experience of the Haunted Pumpkin Patch, racers do a dance through the flowers and under the fruit tree canopy. I explained on the show that trees must be turned on to enjoy the full experience and to not feel like a cheater. It seemed everyone complied and ran a fair race.
My favorite part of the course is near the end when everything goes a little “Haywire.” This final section gave racers the most challenge because not only do you have to zig-zag through the barbed wire course but you also have to zig-zag around all the bails of hay that line the sides.
Another part of what makes this a challenge is that having a large group of farmers on one farm creates an increased demand on computer resources. Therefore, things tend to run in slow motion. This might have been a little frustrating to some, but hilarious to me because it made it all look even funnier and made it easier to follow each of the racers progress.
Just as you clear the Haywire section, you must exit the obstacle course by the stone wall and run your avatar back to the top to complete the challenge. This was so much fun that I have decided to keep the obstacle course available for a couple more weeks prior to Halloween. After each show prior to the holiday I will be inviting the Farm Town Weekly audience and all my neighbors to the farm to race. If you want to practice, visit my farm and give it a try. The course is open 24/7 so of course you are welcome to invite your own group of neighbors to my farm and give them a run for their money. If you catch me on my farm, be sure and challenge me as well.
