We have added a “Request Gift” posting feature here to our website which creates a post to your wall with a link to the gift selection page where you are preselected as the recipient.

To use this feature, just login to our site using the FConnect (Facebook Connect) button located on top of the right sidebar.

When you are fully logged into our site, scroll to the bottom of the right sidebar to find and click on the new [Request Gift] button to open the post dialog box. Add a note to your post about what item(s) you would like to receive and send the post to your wall. Please give it a try while you are here.

Why Offer Another Method to Request Gifts?
There are already several methods within the game to request certain items so why another? Well, regardless of how you do it, I want to encourage you to use this or one of the built-in gift request features of Farm Town rather than leaving it up to your neighbors to guess what you might want for your farm. Also, I want to be clear here that adding a note in the personal message area of the gifts you send out to your neighbors is no longer as helpful as it once might have been.

To understand why we should always post a gift request rather than leaving it to chance, lets first look at gift-giving. These days, most farmers want the third farm and therefore they will need 30 neighbors before being allowed to make that purchase. Some folks will have many more than 30 and so having more neighbors than they have gifts to send, they want to make each gift “count” so to speak.

Sending the same item to all your neighbors is certainly the easiest way to take care of gifting, but it is highly doubtful that all of them want the same thing. Through regular farming together and chatting with your neighbors you might know exactly what to send a few people, but it is a lot of work to send different gift items to many different people.

Some neighbors will send you a gift, probably the same one they sent to their other neighbors and include in the message area, “Please send me one of these back” or “I could use hens, cocoa trees, and flour.” So, while this person did take the time to put it in writing what they would like for their farm, it would have been much easier for their neighbors if they had just posted a Gift Request link to their wall. Posting gift requests is not greedy by any means. It is helpful to your neighbors because they don’t have to guess what you want and the link directly to the gift page saves them time.

Here is another thought on the subject. Not every neighbor is active and getting a daily gift might be more of an annoyance than something to which they look forward. So for all these reasons, I feel that Good Neighbors Post Gift Requests! While you’re here, why not give our Request Gift post a try?
