Facebook Connect and Farm Town Weekly

As you browse our website you may notice the Facebook Connect button appear on posts and pages below the comments form and in the sidebar. This feature is currently being added whereas you will soon be able to login to our website using your facebook account and connect your comments here with those on your facebook wall.

Currently, we are running into some setup issues with facebook connect and as this work continues you may see facebook features here that either don’t work properly, as intended, or as expected.  No worries, we will fix those issues but this work must continue while the site is live and online. Sorry in advance for any confusion this may cause.

While we have been marginally successful at integrating the facebook connect application with our wordpress powered website, there are still some glitches to work out and bugs to squash. You are welcome to try facebook connect to create a new account here, but understand that if we fail to fully implement this system over the next week or so that we will revert back to using our own member registration which will remain available.

The choice is yours on how you choose to connect with us provided that this application works for you. All we are asking is that you please keep in touch in case we need to have you re-register through the old system.

If you were already a registered member of our website prior to seeing the Facebook Connect button then your account will remain active for the time being. If you use the Facebook Connect button, this will create a NEW or second account for you here. This is perfectly okay with us but understand that we may need to contact you sometime in the future to assist you in fully migrating your account to the new system or by chance we decide to remove Facebook connect, attribute any new posts you make to your old account.

However it works out we will do our best to keep you posted. Our goal is simple and that is to create greater opportunity for our community to connect with us AND with each other. As always, we greatly appreciate your support.

Join Farm Town Weekly Live!!!

The Farm Town Weekly talkcast is recorded live every Monday evening at 7:30 Central at Talkshoe.com and You Have a “Backstage Pass!”

Join in on the live interactive conversations with Host Jethro Hill, Co host Mountain Mamma, and Jets’ #1 Sidekick in life, Ms. Kelly as they talk about Farm Town among a wide variety of other topics from their lives both virtual and offline.

A talkcast is sometimes referred to as a “Community Call” Like a traditional talk radio program, we invite listeners to participate by calling while the show is being recorded and streaming live over the internet. More details on how to call in later, but what you should know first is that you do not have to call in to participate.

How it Works

A chat room is available on the Talkshoe.com website during our show from which you can listen as you text chat along with fellow Farm Town Weekly listeners. Alternatively, if you will be away from your computer during our show, you can call in and listen using just your phone, talking is of course optional.

Illustrated on the right is how our show will appear at talkshoe.com in the Now Playing section of their homepage. You will click on this image to open the chat window for our show. Mind you, what’s illustrated on the right will only be displayed on the Talkshoe Now Playing section of their homepage or in the LIVE NOW area when the show is actually “live” between 7:30 and 8:30pm Central.

As the chat window opens, you will be asked to Login or Join as Guest. We do encourage Farm Town Weekly fans and listeners to signup as a member of talkshoe.com and Login to join in the chat using your username rather than as Guest7, Guest8, Guest9 etc. This makes it easier for you to interact with your Farm Town friends and for the hosts to interact with you. Joining as a member of talkshoe is however optional and not required in order to listen and chat along.

How to Call

Note: Regular long distance calling charges will be applied if long distance calling is not included with your regular service.

To call into the show from any phone, just dial (724) 444-7444, anytime during the hour our show is live. An automated operator will ask for our Call ID. Our Call ID is 49058, followed by the pound # key. After entering our Call Id you will be asked for your 10-digit PIN, enter the PIN you created when you registered as a TalkShoe member. Hint: Most Talkshoe members set this as their phone number to make it easier to remember. Follow your PIN by pressing the # key once again. If entered correctly you will be connected to Farm Town Weekly talkcast and begin to hear the program through your phone. As a feature of Talkshoe you are automatically muted upon entry to the show. The host may unmute you at anytime to just say hello or ask you to comment on the topic.

If you are not a Talkshoe member, when asked for your PIN, just press 1 followed by the # key and you will join the call as a guest.
