Farm Town Weekly Season III Episode 12

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

Farm Town Weekly Season III Episode 12On this episode we discuss fishing, facilities, and making a “Help Wanted” post to your wall asking neighbors to come and harvest/plow at your farm. We also talked about desired upgrades to current features and a few new ideas. Was a lot of fun and a great crowd in our live chat.

Another topic we discussed is a fun thread in the official Farm Town discussion forum called Sniff, Sniff, Boo, Hoo. This thread is a multi-contributor saga started by Ms Penny about the goings-on at her “seedy” little Trailer Park (Farm 2) and Bubba’s Prison (Farm 3). We featured screen shots of these farms on our Facebook Fan Page and the story line now includes Jets Cousin, Cletus Hill who is currently sitting on Death Row at Bubba’s Prison. There is really only one way to get up to speed on the Trailer Park Players and that’s to start at the beginning and read to the current post. It is a lot of reading but what else do you  have to do while you’re waiting for wheat?

Happy Farming Group Foto Challenge

I was doing some farming with a few of my favorite Farm Town neighbors and had an idea. Let’s see if we can get a photo with all 4 of our avatars saying, “Happy Farming” at the same time.

The idea seemed simple and all I had to do was ask and my good neighbors were all kind enough to indulge me and play along. After the first 3 or 4 attempts however, I began to wonder if it was even going to be possible. Understand that whoever takes the picture has to send “Happy Farming” through the Farm Town chat, then take the photo before the words disappear from their avatar, keeping in mind that they will also need to switch to the new “Window” option on the camera so the photo is zoomed in enough to be able to read the text and see the avatars.

As you see we eventually did succeed. This photo was not edited except that I added clearer labels so you could see who is in the picture. It looks a lot easier than it really is and I had to hit the little red (X) in the upper right corner of the photos that didn’t work out so as not to post those to my facebook page. When I finally seen one with each of us having the words “Happy Farming” over our avatar, I sent it to my wall and was thrilled with how well we all cooperated in order to make it happen.

Just for fun, I want to challenge all of you farmers to get together with as larger of a group of your neighbors as you can and attempt your own “Happy Farming Group Foto” No cheating with Photoshop or other image editing software. Another little rule, if even one farmer in the photo does not have the talk bubble over their avatar, you have to try again. As you see, the record as of this post is 4 neighbors.

Are you up to the challenge? Can you get more than 4 neighbors in your Happy Farming Group Foto? If so then let me know and we will add your record breaking photo to Farm Town Weekly and raise the bar on any other farmers that are up to the challenge.

As always, Happy Farming!

I know it happens to you too. You spend countless hours working on your virtual landscape, then leave your house and everywhere you look you notice things in real life that remind you of Farm Town.

On Episode Four of Farm Town Weekly, I suggested that we should all share those “Real Farm Town Fotos” with each other right here on the website for us all to share and enjoy together.

To share your Real Life Farm Town Foto(s), just send them in using the contact form here on farmtownweekly.com. There is a 2MB max file size so let me know if your photo is too large to send using the contact form. Don’t forget to include at least a brief description of what is in the photo and where it was taken along with any other information you would like posted.

Please upload only photos that were taken by you or that you own otherwise and have permission to distribute. Understand that by sharing your photo here, you are also giving us non-exclusive rights to republish or otherwise profit from your work. Certainly we will always include credit for the photographer.

If possible, please use a regular digital camera when taking your Farm Town Fotos rather than a cell phone or other small device camera. We want the original copy if possible. We can optimize and size the photo for you so don’t worry if it is a little too dark or light.

Sharing Farm Town Fotos will be lots of fun and I look forward to posting them for you. We will talk more on this topic on the next episode so please call in with any questions, comments, or other ideas that you think would be fun to share. Until then, Happy Farming!

Thank you to all the folks that joined in the chatroom during the live recording. A new segment of the show, Jethro salutes his hometown of Boise, Idaho and the hometowns of our chatroom visitors. Jamie “TATER HEAD” Hodges is welcomed to his chair here on the Board of Directors of Farm Town Weekly. Ms. Kelly Lynn calls in and we discuss a few new Farm Town features, ideas, and last minute suggestions for Jets bull.

Some static sneaked into some portions of the recording that I could not clear through editing. Sorry for this sound quality issue and I hope we can find and eliminate it from the next weeks episode.
